Event Details

The CIPD Annual conference on 22 May 2018 in Croke Park will help you explore and gain insights on how to deliver on your people agenda in an increasing complex and changing times. You will be able to engage with thought leaders such as David Ulrich and Prof Shane O’Mara, and hear great practical examples, including CIPD Award winners, Kuehne + Nagel, to show how organisations are aligning the people agenda to deliver the business strategy.

We are delighted to welcome thought leader David Ulrich to Dublin. He has been ranked as the #1 management guru by Business Week, acknowledged as one of the world’s top 10 creative people in business (Fast Company) and recognized on Thinkers 50 Hall of Fame as one of the world’s leading business thinkers. David Ulrich has a passion for ideas with impact and his work has inspired the corporate and academic agenda. He has co-authored over 30 books and 200 articles that have shaped the fields of organisations (talent, culture and learning), effective leadership (turningleadership aspirations into actions) and Human Resources by focusing on HR outcomes, governance, competencies, and practices.

Professor Shane O’Mara, Professor of Experimental Brain Research at Trinity College Dublin, will discuss how we can use brain science to improve business performance. Prof. O’Mara is renowned for his research on how the brain systems support learning and cognition, are affected by stress and motivation, and how this related to behaviour and business. He will explore how we can exercise control over our behaviour, build resilience and create positive brain states, and the powerful organisational impact when we de-bias assumptions, for example on gender and race.

Kuehne + Nagel, a standard bearer for people practices in the freight and logistics industry, recently won the 2018 CIPD Ireland HR Award for Excellence in HR leadership. Garry McCabe, Human Resources Director of Kuehne+Nagel Ireland will tell their story of HR Service, a journey that connects the business strategy to the people agenda. Hear about their focus on the role of the line manager to improve the people strategy`s impact on the business, the implications for a performance management process that serves its purpose and employee engagement that galvanise additional discretionary efforts.
