Citizens' Think-in on Artificial Intelligence
Event Information
About this event
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is playing a growing role in our lives. Machine-learning tools help determine the ads you see online, the news you read and the products you purchase. Every time we send a text, use a credit card or sync a wearable device, we are sharing personal information about ourselves.
But what are the social consequences of AI? How is our information being used? Who is setting the policies and regulation? And how can AI affect our privacy and civil liberties?
The ADAPT Centre for Digital Content Technology has joined forces with Science Gallery Dublin and industry collaborator The Dock – Accenture’s flagship R&D and global innovation centre - to host this online Citizens' Think-In to discuss some of the ethical issues we face in data storage and dissemination in the digital age.
This event is part of the international virtual Ars Electronica Festival 2020, In Kepler's Gardens - a global journey mapping the ‘new’ world.
Participants will be asked to consider a series of scenarios relating to AI and discuss the various outcomes that can arise from these new technological advancements. By exploring the impact of these scenarios on the individual and society at large, we’ll uncover the emerging risks and opportunities of AI and explore how research can ensure the age of AI is inclusive of everyone.
No previous knowledge of AI is required; we'll teach you all you need to know so that you can share your views.
This citizens' think-in is supported by the European ARTificial Intelligence Lab, bringing AI related scientific and technological topics to general citizens and art audiences in order to contribute to a critical and reflective society.
