Clonbur Writers Weekend
Event Information
About this event
All Saints Heritage Centre (Clonbur, Ireland) and Fly on the Wall Press are pleased to announce the first annual Clonbur Writers Weekend. This participative event includes workshops, readings, advice from publishing industry insiders, a writing competition, and guided plein air writing activities in the stunningly rich outdoor amenities of the Clonbur surrounds.
- Wine and Cheese social evening launches the weekend. Published authors, the community at large, and publishers can mingle and exchange insights and observations
- 2 lectures by Isabelle Kenyon, publisher at Fly on the Wall Press, and owner of Kenyon Author Service
- 6 workshops, each led by a published author
- Plein Air writing experience led by Patricia Walsh, Director Petersburg Outdoor Education Centre, and poets Kathryn Slattery and Attracta Fahy
The weekend is designed to support the needs of both emerging writers and more experienced writers. The workshops go beyond the core craft of writing itself to teaching how to locate a mentor, find publishing opportunities, work with editors and publishing house staff, structures and norms in writing support groups, and other topics useful to those in the writing life.
As a socially conscious and actively inclusive event, the workshops are led by members of communities of color, LGBT, young, and older writers, Lone Parent, and Non-Nationals with an eye toward supporting emerging writers of these valuable but often marginalized communities.
