About this Event

This 2 hour French speaking guided walk, let by Charlotte Jehanno should give you an idea of why and how Huguenots community sought refuge in Ireland through the 17th & 18th Century and what was their contribution to Dublin life.

An amazing story which will lead you from France, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, England to Ireland and make you discover how places & streets in Dublin still bear Huguenots names.

No indoor visit would be offered in this walking tour

With a meeting point at the Wolfe Tone Statue (facing the Shelbourne Hotel), we’ll make our way to our 1st stop at the Huguenots Cemetery on Merrion Row. We will explore some spots around St Stephen Green which are connected with the Huguenots and will walk towards Kevin Street Upper / Cathedral Lane (around 15mn walk). Crossing through the estate, we will then walk to the Liberties quarter along Funbally Lane, Blackpitt / the Tenters to reach NewMarket Square and Weavers’ Park. On our way back to St Patrick Cathedral & Marsh’s Library, we’ll explore some lanes & streets that remain attached to the Huguenots’ craft activity. End of the tour : at Marsh’s Library
