From Dublin Castle under which the river Poddle flows to the North Earl Street / Talbot Street junction, the beginning of a famous area form

About this Event

An outline of the early history of Dublin city from the 9C and the part played by the Poddle river which is now largely underground.

Ger Duignan will bring you on a tour will continue down Parliament Street to Grattan Bridge and onwards towards O’Connell Street and its junction with North Earl Street where the tour will continue to ‘The Monto’ once reputedly the most notorious ‘red light’ area in all of Europe.

The tour will traverse Foley Street (formerly Montgomery Street from where the area got its name) and learn about life and some of those who visited here in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries – a few additional ‘snippets’ will be included along the way………..
