CoderDojo is an open source, volunteer led network of free computer programming clubs for young people aged 7-17. CoderDojo puts an emphasis on self motivated learning through project work, peer to peer mentoring and the creation of socially innovative projects. There are 500 CoderDojos teaching young people how to code in over 45 countries around the world.
Donabate Coder Dojo launced in Septemeber 2014 and has a keen group of mentors able to facilitate Scratch, Python and Java. Over time it is hoped to have HTML along with other languages available.
Children under 12 must be accomanpied by a parent and each child must have their own laptop, fully charged and wifi enabled if possible. Each ninja should bring a snack and a drink, water is best!
CoderDojo has just one rule: “Above All: Be Cool“, bullying, lying, wasting people’s time and so on is uncool.
