Description

CODING FOR LIBRARIANS WORKSHOP, DLR Lexicon

The first half of the workshop is a general introduction intended to demystify 'coding' (computer programming) for anyone who works with technical staff or software vendors. This is intended to provide a level of confidence in working with technical services and an understanding of what is feasible and what can be expected. The introduction will also prepare participants to begin writing code in the second half using hands-on practical tasks, and explore two areas that can have immediate practical benefit.

The second half of the workshop will teach the basic structures common to most if not all programming languages, such as variables, functions, input/output and loops, through practical exercises using the Python programming language.
