Coffee, Cake & Spin with Riders of Charity UK
Date and time
Join us as we give the Riders of Charity from the UK, a warm welcome to Ireland as they make their way to the stunning Wild Atlantic Way.
About this event
We came across the 'Riders of Charity' when a fellow ADV Gear customer told us about a group of YouTubers who are planning a spin to our Emerald Isle. The biking community is a wonderful place, and without hesitation we reached out to Victor and invited him and his comrades to stop at ADV GEAR on route to Kinsale from Belfast.
We are now asking our fellow ADV Gear bikers to join us at our shop for coffee, cake and some banter and to accompany them as they make their way to the colourful little town of Kinsale.
It's a great reason to get out on your bike, meet new riders and have some fun for a great cause!
Riders of Charity was founded in 2019, following the death of my mother from complications surrounding Alzheimer's Disease. I felt I needed to do something to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's Society, but had no idea what or how. Alzheimer's is a cruel disease that robs the person you love of everything that made them who they are. Dementia leaves behind a shell that you still need to love and care for, reminding you with every visit that your loved one has all but gone. I needed to do my part to help fund further research and improve treatments.
I had no idea what I was going to do, and explored many options until I passed by motorbike license in December 2019. My mum was a rocker in the 1960's and always had fond memories of her days with motorbikes. I suddenly realised a motorbike ride would be the only logical option. My day job as a teacher requires a fake name online to avoid being found on social media. I decided to use my father first and middle name, Victor David. This now feels that both my parents are involved in the charity project and I am sure they would both be equally proud.
I began to plan a trip, Lands End to John O'Groats, but it has been done so many times. I decided to take the long route and ride every challenging road I can find. Worried about going alone I invited a friend, but after a few social media posts it became clear that so many people wanted to join me. This was the spark that led to founding ROC in early 2020.
We invite all members of the Motorbike Community to join us, all we ask is that each rider makes a donation to the cause. All financial costs incurred on the rides remain the responsibility of the individual rider. All money raised will be split equally between our chosen charities.
In 2022 those charities are:
Alzheimer's Society, Air Ambulances UK, The Stroke Association and Mental Health Motorbike.
Please support us in anyway you can.
Stay Safe, Stay Awesome
