Description

Collaboration for CHANGE! : citizen participation in the design and delivery of public services and spaces.

This half-day event will explore examples of citizen collaboration in the design of public services and spaces. It will look at what conditions are needed for successful collaborations between local authorities, citizens and other agencies and the impact of involving citizens in the design of the services they use.

This event will be of interest to Local Authority staff, elected members, agencies delivering public services, Public Participation Network members, representatives and co-ordinators and anyone interested in citizen participation and co-design.

Guest speakers include:

Cllr. Gus O’Connell - Former mayor of South Dublin County.

As mayor of South Dublin County, Cllr. O’Connell spearheaded Have Your Say €300K, a participatory budgeting process which facilitates citizens in a local community to directly decide how to spend a portion of a public budget in their area. southdublin.ie/haveyoursay

Rebecca Blake - Education Curator, Irish Architecture Foundation.

Irish Architecture Foundation was a partner in the design of Ballyfermot Play and Skate Park. The park was designed using an innovative and collaborative People First Design Process, working with the people of Ballyfermot to create a design that reflects the community’s own ideas.architecturefoundation.ie/project/the-play-park

Shane Waring - Lead, Dublin City Council Beta (DCC Beta).

DCC Beta is a model and process of trialling, assessing and implementing solutions and approaches to issues Dublin City Council seeks to understand on a small, local scale before implementation on a larger scale, using citizen participation in the process. dccbeta.ie
