Prof. Juliet Goldbart and Ms. Anne-Marie Martin will explore and discuss:

  • The development of communication skills
  • How people with severe/profound intellectual disability are likely to communicate
  • The importance of supporting comprehension/understanding in the health care context
  • Communication strategies for interactions involving people with severe/profound intellectual disability

Prof. Juliet Goldbart is Professor of Developmental Disabilities in the Faculty of Health, Psychology and Social Care, Manchester Metropolitan University, UK.

Ms. Anne-Marie Martin is a Lecturer and Programme Leader of the BSc Nursing (Intellectual Disability) in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, UCC.
