Event description
Community Call - Learning for the Future

About this event

The Community Call was an unprecedented mobilisation of national government, local government and the community & voluntary sector to support vulnerable people in our communities during the COVID-19 emergency.

Its effectiveness was driven by the commitment and work of all involved during a time of national emergency; increased flexibility and experimentation and novel methods of co-ordinating all the groups involved, and new ways of identifying vulnerable groups.

At this webinar hosted by the Department of Rural and Community Development and NESC, statutory, local authority and community and voluntary speakers will reflect on how these new ways of working can be built upon for effective policy and service delivery in future.

Please find link to programme

Key questions that will be reflected on include the following

• How can co-ordination between organisations be supported on a continuous basis, so that they can be drawn upon in an emergency?

• How can good data sharing protocols and adequate ICT infrastructure be developed going forward?

• Improved working relationships developed between the state and community and voluntary groups during Community Call - how can this be sustained into the future?

• Hidden vulnerable groups and hidden needs were made visible during Community Call. What is best way for this work to continue?

• Emergencies require flexibility and experimentation in the working processes of all organisations, and this helps drive effective solutions. How can these processes be supported?
