Charles Dowding

Charles is an acclaimed innovator of no dig, organic growing since 1983, and since 2003 of new ways to crop salad leaves. His original, weed free methods give superb results in both small and large areas. He sells produce from Homeacres bio-intensive, no dig garden, has written nine books, writes for national and international magazines, runs a YouTube channel with over 1.5 million views, appears on TV and radio including BBC Gardeners World, & teaches extensively at home & abroad.

Dr Colin Sage

Dr Colin Sage currently chairs the Cork Food Policy Council Steering Committee. Cork Food Policy Council seeks to influence local food policy to follow best practice in developing a healthy, sustainable, & resilient food system. Dr Sage is a Senior Lecturer in Geography at UCC where he has worked for the past 18 years. Besides teaching, he conducts research on the contemporary food system. He has particular interests in food and nutritional security and civic initiatives that work to strengthen the resilience of local food systems. Colin is the author of Environment and Food (2012), co-editor of Food Transgressions: Making sense of contemporary food politics (2014) and of Transdisciplinary Perspectives on Transitions to Sustainability (Ashgate, 2016). He is regularly invited to offer his thoughts on the food system on Irish radio and television programmes.

Dee Sewell

Dee is a member of the Chartered Institute of Horticulturalists, and a qualified trainer with a passion for the environment, growing vegetables and self-sufficiency. Dee and her family do their best to ‘live the life’ of self-sufficiency, with all the challenges that involves. In the early summer of 2009, Dee Sewell created Greenside Up, a social enterprise that helps people to grow their own vegetables without chemicals. The aim of Greenside Up is to teach as many people as possible this basic life skill and Dee does this by working as a tutor offering gardening workshops, by specialising with community gardening groups, and virtually through social media and blogging.
