The Irish Centre for Human Rights, NUI Galway, is hosting a conference on the theme of Rights and rightlessness in contemporary migration on May 14th and 15th 2020.

The call for papers is available at https://bit.ly/379Hagl. The deadline for submissions of paper proposals is February 29th, 2020.

The event will take place in NUI Galway and will bring together academics, practitioners, policy makers and students working in the field of migration and asylum law and policy. The themes that will be discussed at the conference include, but are not limited to:

  • Rights and extraterritorial migration control;
  • Rights and rightlessness at sea;
  • Rights at borders: between migration control and mobility practices;
  • Climate change and contemporary migration;
  • Gendering migration and asylum;
  • Forced displacement, conflict and exploitation;
  • Global Compacts on Migration and Refugees, SDGs and rights.

Confirmed keynote speakers include Professor Violeta Moreno-Lax (Queen Mary University of London) and Dr Itamar Mann (University of Haifa).
