Event description

Description

A Musical journey around the world in 60 minutes Classical Traditional and ritual music from Bach to Bono!

Bogdan Sofei, violin I

Ingrid Nicola, violin II

Andreea Banciu, viola

Adrian Mantu, cello

This supremely talented quartet came together in 1995 in Bucharest and quickly established themselves on the world stage winning many international prizes and being awarded many accolades in recognition of their excellence. They hit Ireland by storm, becoming Galway’s music artists in residence in 2003 and RTÉ quartet in residence in 2014. The group have performed at some of the world’s most prestigious venues. Here in Ireland, we are very privileged to hear the ConTempo Quartet perform at the National Concert Hall regularly; besides that, they tour the country and perform at Festivals. They have taught and inspired many students and audiences. Equally at home with music from the Baroque to the Classical period and adept at performing Contemporary Composition, their repertoire is vast, spanning the centuries. The ConTempo bring a feast of treats to their performance at the National Botanic Gardens in Dublin including favourites such as Bach’s Air on a G string, the Polka pizzicato by Strauss to Four for Tango by Piazzolla and Romanian Dances by Bartok to name but a few. Sure to put a pep in your step for an afternoon of botanical and musical indulgence; early booking is advised.
