About this event

Classes run from 1pm - 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday
What's the day like? You'll receive light refreshments on arrival while we introduce you to the studio and the process. You will learn how glass can be melted to make combinations of colours and patterns. Once you have learned a little about this process you will then turn your attention to thinking about what you might like to create for yourself! You will make your own special glass pieces to be fashioned into earrings or a necklace for you to wear or as a gift for someone else.
Marja will share her passion for glass and will reveal the secrets of kiln forming, an ancient and fascinating art. You will be introduced to special glass types, including textured and dichroic glass, to create unique kiln-formed jewels. Through discussions, demonstrations and practice you will learn kiln glass techniques and the cool effect temperature has on your projects. Learn how to finish your jewels into pendants, earrings and pins by drilling, adhering findings and wire wrapping. Thoughtful design as well as simple cold-working methods and multiple firings will be encouraged.
What to wear? Leave your nicest clothes at home and wear comfortable closed-toe shoes. We'll have a clean apron and sanitised safety glasses ready for you.
