After a busy 2017 including events in venues and festivals all over Cork County, panels at this year’s Quarter Block Party & It Takes a Village festivals, and a two-day residency at UCC, #CorkLovesMusic presents the latest in a series of talk and performance events, designed to open up discussion and provide a place to share ideas in Cork music.

In partnership with Coughlan’s Live Promotions and Cork Opera House, #CorkLovesMusic are proud to present New Beginnings, a talk and performance panel featuring a variety of speakers from Cork’s music startups and social movements, as well as sets from three of the city’s upcoming musicians.

After a number of years of venue closures and changes, a number of venue openings, expansions and new music entrepreneurs have emerged in the last twelve months. New festivals, spaces and facilitators are ready to provide a new foundation for the Cork scene as change comes for the city centre.

Karan Casey heads up Fairplé Cork, the local chapter of a movement to equalise pay and promotion along gender line in Irish folk & traditional music. Stephen O’Byrne and Hope Alo from Dali have just moved their venue from a warehouse at the city’s docks to the former Pavilion venue on Carey’s Lane, providing a new space for the city’s artists and DJs.

Kevin J. Power is a singer-songwriter and music producer who has recently become a new in-house producer for Whitewell Studios in Cloyne, while Edel Curtin and Eibhlín Gleeson have taken Right Here Right Now from an idea to year two of a collaborative festival for Cork City.

Admission is entirely free, but advance booking is required (please click here). For further updates on additions to the lineup, please stay tuned to #CorkLovesMusic on Facebook and Twitter.

NOTES:
#CorkLovesMusic is a cooperative of music and media professionals, formed after TEDx
CorkSalon's CorkLovesMusic event in September 2016. Working in collaboration with local festivals like Sounds from a Safe Harbour, Quarter Block Party, Townlands Carnival and Cork Midsummer Festival, as well as community organisations like GroundFloor Studio, the group’s aim is to open up new conversations in and around Cork's resurgent music community via its series of talk and performance events.
