Creating and Maintaining a Wildlife Pond in your Community Garden
Date and time
Demonstration on how to build and maintain a wildlife pond to attract a wider range of wildlife into a community garden.
About this event
Having a pond enhances the biodiversity of your garden significantly as in the process you can create a range of different habitats attracting more animal, insect and birdlife into your garden.
This workshop lead by Ciaran Conneely, Vincent Kavanagh and Ruth Shaw of Santry Community Garden will show how they constructed their wildlife pond and the habitats created both within the pond and the adjacent areas.
They will demonstrate what is involved in maintaining the pond so as to maximise its biodiversity value.
Santry Community Garden in 2021 is the first community garden in the Dublin Area to be awarded a green flag. Ciaran will in addition give a short talk on their experience in applying for the award.
