Event description

Description

Creative Responses to Climate Change: a Marketplace for Ideas will provide a space for dialogue, information-sharing and creativity, and will bring together key figures involved in the climate negotiations, civil society representatives and activists, and interested citizens.

Context: Two years after the Paris Agreement came into force on 4 November 2016, and in advance of the upcoming COP24 United Nations conference to be held in Katowice, Poland, from 3 to 14 December 2018, the Embassy of France in Ireland, Trinity International Development Initiative, the Institute of International and European Affairs and Trócaire have come together to hold a public event on the subject of climate change, one of the key political, diplomatic, economic, social and ecological challenges of the 21st century.

Opening speeches will be delivered by Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, Coordinator of Chadian Indigenous Women and Peule People Association, will close the day.

A showcase of diverse and innovative ideas to respond to climate change will form the centrepiece of this unique event. Delegates will be able to browse a marketplace of creative projects and learn about new ways to understand and tackle climate change.

The programme will consider all aspects of the climate change challenge, from the global issues at stake, to those at the heart of everyday life. The day will provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about the international climate negotiations and to discover ways to take concrete action every day.
