Ines Khai presents an adapted performance of her latest album, Pitit a Lanmè + exclusive conversation with the artist

About this event

Singer-songwriter Ines Khai presents an adapted performance of her latest album, Pitit a Lanmè (Child of the Sea). A solo-performance created in real-time, Khai enlivens a story of crossing oceans with a guitar, dreamlike melodies and a loop pedal. She evokes the rich soundscapes of creole words and introduced a unique blend of Guadeloupean traditional music and soul-blues in her songs of the mysterious ocean, the memory of loved ancestors and her journey to freedom.

With an exclusive extra!A conversation between Benjamin Girodeau, Cooperation attaché for French language at the French Embassy in Ireland and Ines Khai on Francophone identity, art and the power of music to bring people together and celebrate.

Ines Khai comes from Guadeloupe, which is a group of islands of the Eastern Caribbean sea. Her language is Creole, and her songs are in Creole. They tell stories about living in exile, crossing oceans, taking new steps as well as living through the ups and downs in life. Over the years, she has collaborated with many different highly regarded musicians. Her music is deeply rooted in the rich culture and the traditions of her country. Her latest album, Pitit a Lanmè, was released in February 2020. Ines is sure to seduce her audience with her incredible vocal range, soulful voice, and unique guitar style.
