Croaghanmoira and Fananerrin Ridge, A Guided Hike
Event Information
About this Event
This hike is often below the radar of the masses, who flock instead to the more popular hills nearby. With its classic conical peak at 664m, Croaghanmoira is one of Wicklow's best kept secret! We start our walk joining the Wicklow Way for a spell and almost counter-intuitively we climb the wooded slopes opposite our real target. We descend through the woods and over the road to start our real climb of the day. A short enough, but steep enough climb takes us to the summit. On descent we traverse the wonderful and little known ridge that is Fananierin, at the end of which is one of the best views of the Glenmalure valley. Some mysterious neolithic "cup marks" in stone are but some of the points of interest.
