When and where will the race take place?

Crossmolina Pier2Peak takes place on Saturday 22nd July 2023.  The race begins and ends at Gortnor Abbey Pier, Crossmolina, Co. Mayo

Who can take part in Crossmolina Pier2Peak?

Accepted Answer

Anyone over the age of 18 years.

What are the race options?

Accepted Answer

1.	Duathlon – Start at Gortnor Abbey Pier, Walk/Run Crossmolina Loop Walk (4.9km) Cycle to Nephin and back to Gortnor Abbey Pier (21.8KM) Total Course = 26.7KM

Question 5

Will my race number have a race chip time?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately not; however we may look into this option in future events.  We recommend that each competitor time their race individually.

Question 6

Do I have to run?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely not! You can walk, jog, or run – whatever you are comfortable with.

Question 7

Are bikes provided?

Accepted Answer

No, you must bring your own bike, or rent a bike, if you want to participate in the cycle.  While stewards will monitor the bikes, please be aware that bikes are left at owners risk. We recommend labelling your bike.  All cyclists must wear a helmet.

How long with each race option take?

Well that depends on your fitness and competitiveness!  We are estimating that the duathlon will take 2-3 hours to complete.

What time does the race start?

The duathlon will begin at 10:30am sharp.  We recommend that you are present at least 15 minutes in advance of the race.

What is included in the registration fee?

Accepted Answer

Your registration fee includes your registration pack, race number, t-shirt* and medal.  It also includes charitable donations to two local worthy charities – Gráinne Uaile Sub Aqua Club and Counselling Services in Ballina Family Resource Centre.

Will everyone get a t-shirt?

*Yes, provided you register early!  While we endeavour to provide everyone with a t-shirt, it may not be possible if you register last minute.

Question 12

When do I collect my registration pack?

Accepted Answer

Registration packs can be collected on Friday 21st July – details of the venue and time will be provided closer to the time.  As we want to avoid delays on the morning of Saturday 22nd July, we recommend that you collect your pack on Friday 21st July.  Your pack contains your race numbers.

What if I cannot collect my registration pack on Friday 21st July?

While we highly advise that you to collect your packs on Friday, there will be an opportunity to collect your pack on the morning of the race.  Please arrive early in order to minimise any delays.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind or cannot complete the race?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately not, as once you register fees are incurred for booking fees, organising registration packs, organising health and safety personnel, ordering t-shirts, medals, race numbers etc.

Health and Safety and Obeying Stewarts/Officials

Accepted Answer

In the interest of safety, stewards/officials must be obeyed at all times.  Please do not wear headphones or listen to music during the race.  We recommend that you cycle no more than two abreast and pull in where possible if a vehicle is behind you. During the climb,  stick to the identified path.

Where can I park?

Parking will be available at Gortnor Abbey Secondary School – which is a very short walk to Gortnor Abbey Pier.  Please do not park at Gortnor Abbey Pier.
