Program & Race Autonomous Cars

Students are split into teams and Coding Ireland teach them how to program the cars to follow the lines around the track. Each team get test runs where they can try and improve the code so that their car will go faster without crashing off the track.

Then we pit the teams against each other in a series of races to find the team with the fastest car. As well as learning how to program the car, students practice teamwork, creativity and innovation by working together to incrementally improve their car.

What students learn:

• Micro computers

• How an autonomous car works

• How to use sensors to follow a track
