We are delighted to invite your attendance at two special events in New York and Dublin to celebrate the first year of Cuala Foundation, Inc. and to launch New York Rising, a graphic novel and educational tool co-produced by GRAMMY-winner Susan McKeown and Derry's Nerve Centre that tells the uncelebrated history of the international influence of the Rising. The events will be live streamed.
CualaNYC Story Shebeen will be held at Columbia University's Heyman Center for the Humanities on Friday 9 December at 6:15PM in partnership with New York City Council and UrbanWordNYC. Participants include Irish-language journalist Siobhan Kavanagh; poets James Larkin, David Tian and Maya-Ange Veras; harper Alice Smyth; Dublin musician Stano; actor, theatre maker and Dublin City Council Arts Officer Ray Yeates.
CualaÉire Story Shebeen at Dublin City Hall on Wednesday 21 December at 7PM is presented in partnership with Dublin City Council, Fighting Words, SIPTU and Super Paua and features poets, songwriters and storytellers including Vickey Curtis, Ciarán McGann, Oisín McKenna, Sian Ní Mhuire, Colm Ó Caoimh, Tadhg Ó Ciardha, Joanna Siewierska.

New York Rising tells stories of Irish women, of Connolly's time in New York, and how people such as Elizabeth Gurley Flynn, Marcus Garvey, Cyril Briggs, and poets Joyce Kilmer and Claude McKay were inspired by The Rising and its leaders to organize, write and to make their voices heard in creative ways.
