Event description
The opposite of 'racist' is not 'not racist'. It's 'anti-racist'. Join us for a frank conversation on how to act against systemic racism.

About this Event

Now is the time to have courageous conversations, learn from others and actually do the work. We must accept that this is an opportunity for personal growth and sustained change, and we cannot let it pass us by.

Are you interested in joining the movement and fighting against racism, but you're just not sure where to begin? Or are you already engaged with the movement, but would like to learn more? Or are you maybe not sure why you should be involved in this fight?

Then join us for our next #GoingFar event, which will be an honest discussion about how to be anti-racist in and out of the workplace. Our incredible lineup of speakers will discuss racism in Ireland, actionable steps to fight it, and much more. You will have the opportunity to ask questions to the panellists, speak to other event attendees or just listen quietly if that's what you're into!

Our speakers:

Claudia Hoareau-Gichuhi: Diversity & Inclusion expert with anti-racism background. Sits on the board of INAR (Irish Network Against Racism)

Deborah Somorin: Management Consultant at PwC, founder of Empower the Family and listed as one of Forbes 30 Under 30.

Áine Mulloy: Innovation Designer at The Dock (Accenture), co-founder of GirlCrew, and listed as one of 100 women founders in Europe to follow by Forbes.

Toju Duke: Product Lead at Google, founder of Refyne, Project Lead at Women in AI and tech startup mentor.

And your panel moderator:

Sophie Benoit: co-founder of What The Hack, Startup Weekend organiser, recently made the 30 Under 30 Business Post annual list.

This will be a virtual event. We will use to host it and will send you the link a few days before the event. This virtual event platform allows attendees to speak to each other by joining 'tables', and also watch the main 'stage', where the panel discussion will take place.

Please note that registering on Eventbrite DOES NOT guarantee you'll be able to join the event on Remo. This will be a very limited event as we are only allowed 50 people on the platform, and we will let people in on a first-come-first-served basis. However, the event will also be live-streamed on YouTube, so if the room is full by the time you join, you'll have the opportunity to watch the panel discussion and the Q&A live via YouTube, you just won't be able to interact with the speakers and attendees. We will send both the link to join the event and the YouTube live stream link a few days before the event.
