It's #Bikeweek2022 and #GortCycletrails would like to invite you to cycle from the Gort Railway Station to Coole Park via Glenbrack aka as the Gort Mini-Greenway.

Once we have arrived at Coole Park, thanks to the sponsorship by Galway Sports Partnership and Galway Co. Co. you will be treated to coffee/Tea/Hot chocolate and a yummie cake by Gort Tea Rooms in the Walled Garden. Please specify what you would like to drink during the check out.

Once you have picked up your order at the Coole Park Tearooms, make your way to the walled Garden. If the weather is nice we can sit outside on the benches, if the weather is not kind to us, we can sit on the benches in the sheltered area.

We will then make our return to Gort by cycling over the bridge( yes you can walk )and then cycle on the main road on the hardshoulder, back to the Railway Station.

There will be tickets for 50 people only - only people with a ticket will be allowed to take part.

Where to meet : Gort Railway Station - Eircode H91 CY91

Time to meet : 10 :30 AM

There will be a safety instruction announcement prior to leaving the Railway Station.

Approximate distance : 9 km

Bridges to cross : 1

Level of fitness : Average .. it's not a race, so we are not cycling fast and you can walk over the bridge if too taxing

Bike Health : Please check that your bike is in good working order, such as working breaks and tyres in good order.

Children : Under 16's to be accompanied by an adult/guardian. Please make sure your child can cycle . Please note this is a group cycle, we will cycle two abreast for the safety of us all .

Number of hills : a few gentle ones on the way to Coole Park, one bridge, a bit of a climb into Gort, overall fairly level cycle and roadsurface is also in good shape

What to wear?

Wear a helmet and high viz

Front and back Lights

If it's wet, please bring rain gear
