Join Luke Murphy, Uillinn's Dance Artist in Residence, West Cork 2021 for Dance Film Season

About this event

Presented in association with Fastnet Film Festival this live screening of Dance Film shorts, curated and hosted by Luke Murphy, our Dance Artist in Residence for West Cork in 2021 includes work from his own dance company Attic Projects. A discussion will follow the presentation inviting the audience to engage in a conversation about the work shown in the context of a changing relationship between audience and performer.

Originally from Cork City, Luke is a performer / writer / director and choreographer working across various mediums in Europe, the UK and USA. Luke is the producer and programming director of The Catch8 Workshop Series in Cork City. He trained at Point Park University where he earned his BFA in Dance and English in 2009 and University of Chichester where he earned an MA in Choreography in 2017.

Luke founded Attic Projects in 2014 as an umbrella for his various independent projects in dance, film and theatre. Luke’s work has been supported by various commissions, awards and residencies internationally including the Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon; Cork City Council; Culture Ireland; New England Foundation for the Arts National Dance Project; Kaatsbaan International Dance Centre; Pavilion Theatre; Tyrone Guthrie Centre; Irish Arts Centre; Foundation for Contemporary Arts; Dance Limerick; Dance Base: Scotland’s National Theatre for Dance; Tribeca Performing Arts Centre, New York; Dance Now Silo New York; Tanz Tendendz, Munich; b12 Berlin and others. He has created and performed ten dance performance works throughout Ireland, Germany, UK and USA including several that have featured at Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre - Your Own Man / Mad Notions (2015); On Triumph and Trauma (2016); The Dust We Raised (2017); The Milkyboy Kid (2018) and most recently Carnivore, which was developed during a residency at Uillinn in 2019.

Booking Guidelines:

West Cork Arts Centre is optimistically looking forward to the future release of details from our Government regarding easing of restrictions for arts venues on October 22nd. In the meantime for the wellbeing of our audience and staff, we will continue our policies of social distancing, face coverings, and reduced capacity for our performances during Uillinn Dance Season until advised otherwise.

After booking we ask you to keep an eye on your emails for any updates advise you of any updates by email prior to your event

Please follow physical distancing guidelines upon arrival and exit

All attendees over the age of 13 must wear a face covering at all times during arrival, performance and until they have exited the building.

You must sit in your assigned seat these will be marked with the name of the person who booked the tickets

Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre is a hub of arts activity right in the heart of Skibbereen. Its two main galleries house contemporary art exhibitions that intrigue and inspire, presenting artwork by local, national and international artists and a programme of guided tours, gallery talks and free gallery resources such as the Discovery Box for families and Children's Activity Sheets.
The three Artists' Studios provide space for Irish and international artists to work on site and to meet the public and the Dance Residency brings top-class contemporary dancers, choreographers, performers and musicians to Uillinn to develop new work and present it to the public throughout the year.
The vibrant and diverse education programme enriches the visitor experience through workshops, masterclasses, dance and discussion platforms and encourages equality of access for people of all ages and cultures through its long-term programmes and projects.
Many of the programmes and events are free of charge.
