Event description

Description

There is a door. It has a handle and a lock. It can be easy or difficult to open. Depending, of course, on which side of the door you are on, who opens it and why. Should it be flung open wide? Opened just enough to see who is there? Or – kept firmly closed?

The Door is a dance theatre & performance project open to people aged 50+. Imaginative and provocative, The Door embraces the Bealtaine festival’s theme of hospitality and what it means as we age. The project begins with creative dance workshops in Dublin and beyond and culminates in a special dance sharing performance in May 2019. All are welcome!

Whether you take part in the workshops or not - we invite you to come and join the fun! Share your experiences and if you wish, try some of the choreography created during the workshops. There'll be some fabulous music and a cuppa tea and biscuits for all!

This event takes place in the Pillar Room, in the Rotunda Hospital.

This is a CoisCéim BROADREACH project, led by Philippa Donnellan, commissioned by Age & Opportunity/Bealtaine and funded by the Arts Council, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Arts Office and supported by Active Retirement Ireland.
