Dangerous Ideas is an annual weekend of anti-capitalist and socialist debate in Dublin, hosted by the Socialist Party.
Speakers, debates and meetings:
Ruth Coppinger TD (Solidarity and Socialist Party member), independent Senator Lynn Ruane and Laura Harmon of the National Women's Council of Ireland will be debating "Our fight for bodily autonomy: How can we ensure repeal means abortion rights?"
Paul Murphy TD (Solidarity and Socialist Party member), Daniel McConnell (Political Editor Irish Examiner), Patricia McKenna (Former MEP and practicing barrister) and Larry Donnelly (NUIG lecturer and columist) will be debating: "The State of the Left: Who threatens our democratic rights?"
Mick Barry TD (Solidarity and Socialist Party member), Barry Cowan (Fianna Fáil spokesperson on housing), Eddie Hobbs (Financial advisor and economist) and Niamh Randall (Simon Community) will debating: "Housing: Can the market solve the homeless crisis?"
Black Lives Matter activist and US socialist Eljeer Hawkins will be speaking on "Trump's America: Organising for socialism in the belly of the best"
Hannah Sell from the Socialist Party in England and Wales will be speaking about the significance of the movement around Jeremy Corbyn.
Russian socialist Oleg Knyazev will be talking about "The Russian Revolution: What really happened- its legacy today"
