Daniel Soro: Irish Traditional Tunes for Classical Guitar
Overview
Join us for an evening of Irish traditional music arranged for classical guitar, performed by Daniel Soro.
This concert features a wide-ranging set of traditional Irish tunes reinterpreted for solo guitar, spanning jigs, reels, airs, a waltz and a slip jig. The programme brings together lively dance tunes, reflective melodies and richly textured arrangements, offering a fresh perspective on familiar pieces.
Audiences will hear works such as The Black Rogue, Amhrán na Leabhar (The Song of the Books), The Old Bush, Geaghan’s Reel, I Buried My Wife and Danced on Her Grave, The Rocky Road to Dublin and Si Bheag, Si Mhor. The evening also includes The Blackthorn Suite, which links two traditional jigs with an original study by the performer, as well as Louis Stewart’s atmospheric arrangement of She Moved Through the Fair.
Through varied harmonic treatments, inventive textures and moments of expressive freedom, this programme highlights the depth and versatility of Irish traditional music in a new setting for classical guitar.
