Data Protection Concerns in Cross-Border Research and Practice
Event Information
About this event
Brexit generates particular challenges in terms of maintaining co-operation for those working across the border between Northern Ireland and the RoI. Under the Good Friday Agreement (GFA), the governments of the RoI and Northern Ireland are tasked to co-operate on an all-island and cross-border basis on matters of mutual interest (Good Friday Agreement, 1998). The practical assurance of the GFA has relied not only on formal cooperation mechanisms, but also on informal, institutional, community and academic information sharing and joint ventures. If a consistent approach and reliable infrastructure for all stakeholders involved in policy development is absent, this cooperation will face significant obstacles with consequences for the solidarity fundamental to the peace process.
