Description

Admission: €12 (Day Ticket)/€5 (Session Ticket)

A day-long series of concerts by staff and students of the Royal Irish Academy of Music highlighting the music of Claude Debussy on the 100th Anniversary of his death on March 25th, 1918.

Claude Debussy, is one of the greatest artists in the history of French culture and to this day one of its most distinguished composers. His highly characteristic musical language, thoroughly French in inspiration, extended the contemporary limits of harmony and form, with a remarkably delicate command of nuance, whether in piano writing or in the handling of a relatively large orchestra. On March 25th, an array of musicians from the Academy will commemorate the centenary of this great artist’s death in a day-long series of concerts. His significant output for solo piano will be at the heart of this musical celebration, with performances of some of the composer’s best-loved works for piano by pianists both emerging and professional, in addition to a number of works from his magnificent chamber music catalogue.
