This one-day symposium will examine the various roles of urban trees and green infrastructure in creating vibrant, healthy and sustainable cities and towns. It will examine the biodiversity, climate, cultural and health benefits associated with urban forests and showcase relevant research and activities.
Trees play important roles in the sustainable city and these roles will be explored through the lens of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The practical aspects of planting and protecting trees in the urban space will be examined and delegates will hear from projects working in this space.
This symposium will be in-person at University College Cork and will be free to attend. The workshop is organised by the UCC Arboretum and it is partly supported by Science Foundation Ireland through the ‘Tree Explorers’ project.
