About this event

Early Childhood Ireland invites you to our 2nd Research Webinar of 2022:

Developing professional learning through educator enquiry in early years settings.

Our keynote speaker is Professor Kate Wall, Professor of Education, Strathclyde University, speaking on: “Practitioner enquiry communities in early childhood settings: ensuring it is pragmatic and playful”.

Sharon Skehill, Manager and Teacher in the Willows Outdoor Preschool, Co. Galway and Lecturer in Early Childhood Studies in Mary Immaculate College, Limerick will respond to Professor Wall’s presentation using her real-life experiences with practitioner enquiry in her setting, ‘Empowerment through voice: Action research as a means of supporting quality and meaningful participation for children and educators in the early years setting’.

Early Childhood Ireland echoes Professor Wall’s premise that early years educators are already skilled researchers, seeing and interpreting the intricacies in children’s play. A practitioner enquiry approach marries research and professional learning, using enquiry-based tools to explore playful pedagogy and children’s perspectives through play.

This event is aimed at:

• Early years providers, managers, and educators

• Education lecturers and researchers

• Those concerned with improving quality and sustaining high-quality practice and curriculum in settings

• Those concerned with continuous professional development and learning in early childhood settings

This event is free of charge and open to all to register.
