We are more digitally connected than we could have ever imagined. The digital economy is growing at seven times the rate of the traditional economy. Traditional business models and ecosystems are under threat but the transition to digital also presents many challenges and opportunities.
Successful digital transformation requires a new skillset, mindset and toolset. There is also a great deal of exaggeration about digital initiatives. All organisations know they must transform, but the possibilities of digital are so vast it is often hard to know what to focus on or even where to begin.
Digital will transform and reshape every industry and sector just as digital has already transformed the Music & TV, Retail, Banking and Transport. The strategic or leadership challenge is that all organisations will have to reinvent their value proposition. Organisations will have to reimagine their business model is they are to stay relevant and this will also have complex unforeseen implications.
The lecture will be presented by John McGrath. John teaches Project Management and Consultancy at DIT. John has 20+ years of experience delivering transformation projects for global organisations. His track record includes over 200 international companies, government agencies, state enterprises, Engineers Ireland, the United Nations, the London and Rio Paralympics and the World Bank.
You will also have the opportunity to talk to John and other teaching staff regarding the MSc in Project Management, a one year full-time programme for recent graduates and the "Executive Stream" is an 18 month part-time block release programme with lectures scheduled one Friday and Saturday per month.
