Drinkaware is delighted to host Ed Flahavan, Policy Advisor with The Behavioural Insights Team (UK) at our inaugural research breakfast briefing.

Behaviour change is at the heart of all efforts to curb harmful drinking. This talk will provide an overview of how insights from behavioural science can be applied to help reduce excessive consumption and help people manage their own drinking. The talk will draw on literature on behaviour change, how the immediate environment influences choices and on behavioural interventions to reduce harmful drinking.

Speaker Bio

Ed is a policy advisor working across multiple areas, working closely with BIT's CEO David Halpern. Prior to this, Ed was seconded to the Cabinet Office’s Economic and Domestic Affairs Secretariat. Within BIT his previous role was as a researcher in the health team working on a range of public health projects. Before joining BIT, Edward worked as a macroeconomic analyst at a financial research firm and in the consumer goods industry. Edward holds an MSc in Behavioural and Economic Science from the University of Warwick and a BA in Philosophy, Politics, Economics and Sociology from Trinity College Dublin.
