Dublin boasts a rich historical past tracing back centuries, though many of its stories have been lost over time. Join our affable history buffs as they discuss Dublin’s rich historical past. Donal Fallon is a historian and writer based in Dublin. He recently co-wrote Come Here to Me: Volume 2 – More Unexplored Dublin Histories (New Island Books) with Sam McGrath and Ciarán Murray based on their popular blog of the same name. Acclaimed historian and walking-tour guide John Gibney guides us along Dublin‘s streets in his latest book Dublin: A New Illustrated History (The Collins Press). He forms a social, political, cultural and architectural past through anecdotes about personalities, goings-on, buildings, literature and song over the centuries. Aileen O’Carroll is the manager of the Irish Qualitative Data Archive and recently co-wrote The Dublin Docker: The Dockers and Stevedores of Dublin Port (Irish Academic Press) with Don Bennett, exploring Dublin’s industrial life which was once the heartbeat of the city. They will be joined by Irish broadcaster Myles Dungan, author of On This Day - The Sequel: The Drivetime Columns (New Island Books), a collection of brand-new historical tales based on his popular Drivetime slot on RTÉ.
