Event description

Description

An indispensable part of Dublin Pride, the queer history walking tour begins at The George and winds its way leisurely through the city centre, with a significant stop at Leinster House to mark the 25th anniversary of decriminalisation, before finishing at the Oscar Wilde statue.

Due to popularity, there will be two tours hosted by Mary McAuliffe and Tonie Walsh, each approximately 2.5 hrs in duration. Mary and Tonie are part of the team that oversaw the historic transfer of the Irish Queer Archive to the National Library of Ireland on Bloomsday 2008.

Mary McAuliffe lectures at Gender Studies, UCD and is a historian by profession. She is a former organiser of the Lesbian Lives conference and a go-to reference on women in revolutionary Ireland and the Suffrage and Cumann na mBan movements.

Tonie Walsh is the founding editor of GCN, former chair of National LGBT Federation and independent curator of the Irish Queer Archive.

TOUR 1 at 15:00 hrs hosted by Tonie Walsh

TOUR 2 at 16:00 hrs hosted by Mary McAuliffe
