Event Details

Durga Puja needs no introduction. However, for the uninitiated, Durga Puja ranks among the most popular festivals in India. Traditionally, it is a four-day festival, dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga. It is a festival that depicts triumph of good over evil, by celebrating the victory of Goddess Durga over Mahishasura, the Buffalo demon, after nine days of fierce battle.

In Ireland, Durga Puja is a social and theatrical event. Drama, dance, and other cultural performances from India are essential part of the festival. Albeit, food is the primary focus for the organizers. The organizers have recently procured the largest idol of Goddess Durga in Europe. The artwork was mentioned and praised by several leading newspapers in West Bengal.

This year, we are celebrating Sujan's 18th Durga Puja on September, 27 & 28 (Friday & Saturday), in a state-of-the-art venue. The venue in a well-insulated indoor facility, so that any harsh weather cannot dampen the spirits. The cultural programmes will be held in an auditorium, which seats more than 1000 people and features best-in-class audio-visual equipment & acoustics. The venue is 7 minutes' drive from M50 exit 11 and parking is free. The venue is also well connected from Dublin City Centre and the bus stop is within a minute walk. Check the venue on Google Maps.

The festival will highlight traditional and modern elements of Durga Puja, such as, puja rituals, pushpanjali, dhunuchi dance, sindur khela, music, drama and choreography. This year, the festival will host professional performances by artists from London. An elaborate gourmet of Indian lunch and dinner will be served, with special selection for kids under 6 years.

The mission of the festival is to enhance inclusion, celebrate culture & food, and connect people from across Ireland. So, we have introduced flexible tickets, catering to multiple age groups, interests, students, and out-of-station guests. This year, we are introducing attractive discounts for students - see Ticket Category starting with 'STUDENT'. Early bird discounts are available for all categories of tickets until September 12, 2019; thereafter ticket prices will increase to standard rates. HURRY!!!
