Skillnet Ireland hosts its second International Women’s Day event in Cork. Join us as we explore how we can make change happen together.

About this event

Skillnet Ireland is delighted to invite you to our women in business event, as part of International Women's Day 2020. Join us on Friday 6th March, at the Kingsley Hotel in Cork, as we mark how collectively our influence can make change happen in wider society.

Dr Celine Mullins of Adaptas Training will run a bespoke Maximising Brain Potential for Learning and Change workshop and a panel discussion with 3-4 local business leaders will follow. We will finish off the event with a networking lunch.

The Panel

- Following the workshop with Celine Mullins – the panel will explore how changes can be made by individuals within organisations.

- Drawing from a notion of collective individualism. We are all parts of a whole. Our individual actions, conversations, behaviours and mindsets can have an impact on a larger society. Collectively we can make change happen. Collectively we can each help to create a gender equal world. We can all choose to be #EachforEqual.

- To present ideas and concepts that can be applied by individuals and by businesses of all sizes.

Celine Mullins, CEO & Founder of Adaptas

Celine has over 15 years experience as a Psychologist, Coach and Training Consultant working across Multinationals, SME’s, Governmental and Educational agencies. She founded adaptas™ to put a gigantic spin on more traditional approaches to learning, which she believes often fall short of making real and lasting change happen.

With a focus on narrowing the gap between the training room and the real world, and using what we know about the brain and behaviour from psychology and neuroscience, Celine’s specialties include; leadership communication, eradicating behaviours and limiting beliefs that restrict performance and relationships, while improving team communication and collaboration.

Celine is all about learning by ‘doing’ and letting mistakes happen in her safe haven, instead of in the real world. In her past life, while studying and practicing her skills as a psychologist, she was also appearing in TV, Film and treading the boards as an actor. She now utilises skills from her interesting and varied background to take corporate coaching & learning with individuals and groups to the platform of real and lasting change.

Dave A. Barry, Founding Director of Conexion

A graduate of UCC in HR and French & Economics, subsequent to initial roles in travel and retail Dave joined biopharma Eli Lilly in February 1999 for thirteen years across HR, Lean Six Sigma and Finance at three Cork locations with close US and European links.

Keen to lead in other sectors, Dave left Lilly in October 2011 and following a telecoms HR 'self-service' project role in Dublin joined global cybersecurity leader Trend Micro in Cork in March 2013 as Head of HR – EMEA Operations Centre/Ireland and interim Southern Europe.

Passionate about evolving work and HR from operational to organizational via culture, strategy and people focuses, Dave moved on from Trend in October 2016 to pursue related management consulting opportunities prior to establishing Conexion.ie in October 2018.

Maxine Hyde, General Manager of Ballymaloe Foods

Maxine Hyde is the General Manager of Ballymaloe Foods, her family food manufacturing business. Maxine worked in sales and marketing in the business for ten years, driving business growth and has recently become the General Manager. Maxine previously worked as a chef in the Crawford Art Gallery Café. She holds a BComm degree from UCC as well as Diplomas in Food Manufacturing Management (UCC) and International Selling (DIT). Maxine currently sits on the Board of Agri Aware and of Cork Chamber.

Margaret Howard, Quality Operations Leader- Pfizer Global Supply

Margaret Howard is Quality Operations Leader- Pfizer Global Supply, Ringaskiddy. In this position, Margaret is responsible for all Quality Operations activities on the site. Margaret is responsible for providing leadership in assuring that appropriate systems and processes are in place to meet or exceed the requirements of Pfizer and the regulatory authorities for the quality of the products manufactured on site or by approved vendors. Margaret leads, manages and develops a diverse team of talented and engaged technical professionals with the responsibility of providing comprehensive support and guidance to all operations at the site in assuring Pfizer's Quality Standards are met.

Margaret has more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and has held positions in all aspects of quality operations in API and Drug product manufacturing sites.

Margaret holds a BSc (Biochemistry) degree, a Master of Science (Analytical Chemistry) and a QP qualification from University College Cork, Ireland.

Rachel Maher O’Brien, Talent Acquisition Manager, EMEA McAfee Ireland Ltd

Rachel is an experienced professional with extensive experience recruiting in Blue-Chip IT organisations across the EMEA region. Demonstrated success in networking and building relationships with key stakeholders spanning across a facet of disciplines. A dynamic, motivated leader and team player dedicated to learning and development of industry innovations through continual improvement of the employee experience.

A communications and resource management focused program manager in the past with exposure to project & process management across technical teams.
