Accessible Science in plain English. All Welcome.
Our finalists in this year's ENGAGE Seminars cover a broad range of biomedical subjects, from combating potentialy lethal bacterial and fungal infections of the blood to new hope for cures for the lung disease, emphysema and for the presently irreversible state of heart failure. Also under scrutiny is an inherited disease of the nervous system that leads to paralysis and the devlopement of 'alternative therapies' for cancer from non-toxic, natural products.
All of this and more will be explained in our upcoming final of the 2017 ENGAGE Seminars which challenges our students to clearly and effectively explain their scientific research to a public audience.
We are delighted to announce that the ENGAGE 2017 final will be hosted by TV presenter and science communicator, Dr. Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin, with the winner selected by our judging panel. We invite you, your family, friends and colleagues to be entertained and informed by plain English presentations and posters spanning a breadth of biomedical science. This year’s event will take place on 29th March in the Moore Auditorium in UCD's O'Brien Centre for Science. Pre-event activities from 3 pm with talks beginning 4:30 pm.
