Did you know that the colour pink can have a soothing effect on your attendees, that blue has been shown to be calming, and red can help make a crowd go wild? Or that it takes about 600 tweets to trend in Ireland?
These are just some of the interesting facts we uncovered when we examined the science of events, to help you understand how you can optimise your next project. At Eventbrite we’re constantly looking for knowledge we can share with events organisers to help them sell out their events.
We’re delighted to invite you to a free event we’re hosting at Science Gallery in Dublin on the evening of June 29th, where we’ll explore the findings from our research into how science can improve your events. We’ll begin with a complimentary drinks reception followed by a panel discussion hosted by Irish Times journalist Jim Carroll.
This is part of an event themed talk series that will run for the rest of 2016.

Amanda Webb
Amanda Webb formed Spiderworking.com to work with SME’s, local and small businesses to help them develop social media strategies, offering them training and support. She learnt her skills whilst promoting her first business, Feelgood Organic Hampers. Prior to this she worked as an Assistant Director in the Irish Film Business working on productions such as Adam & Paul, Angela’s Ashes and various commercials for various well known brands.
In 2010 she co-founded the KLCK bloggers Network in order to encourage and support both business and personal bloggers as they learnt how to use both blogging and social media tools. In 2011 she took this one step further with Bloggers International co-managing their inaugural event.
In 2012 she founded Blog Awards Ireland along with her KLCK colleagues and headed up the online marketing and project management of the event.
Her blog reached the final of Social Media Examiners International top 10 Social Media Blogs of 2011 and 2012, The Social Media Awards 2012 and her Video Blog reached the finals of the Irish Web Awards 2010
Dr. Kenneth McKenzie
Dr Kenneth McKenzie is Strategic Planning Director with Target McConnells, where he leads and co-builds advertising and marketing strategies for clients across telcos, financial services, food & drink, and healthcare. He is a trained social psychologist, and has held academic posts in UCD and Trinity College Dublin. His specialism is drilling down into the messy business of how people make decisions in the real world.
Dr. Shaun O'Boyle
Dr. Shaun O'Boyle is a scientist and science communicator. He is the Research Coordinator at Science Gallery and the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute at Trinity College Dublin. Previously, he was the Events Officer at Science Gallery, and has produced TEDxDublin at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre. He is a co-founder of Dublin Maker, and co-founder of producing collective Maurice & Shaun, who produced the BAI-funded documentary You Are Here for Newstalk, which also featured in Dublin's Festival of Curiosity. Shaun has produced reports for BBC Radio Four, and was the producer of Futureproof, Newstalk's weekly science programme from 2010 to 2013. In 2012, Futureproof won the PPI Radio Award for Specialist Speech Programme. He also presents the Science Gallery podcast. Shaun has a PhD in Developmental Biology and a degree in Physiology from NUI Galway. He also worked as a postdoctoral researcher at University College Dublin.
