Event description

Do you want to learn about a proven, high-performance and cost-effective insulation material that has been in use for decades? Do you want to learn about innovative heat pump space heating systems that will reduce your reliance on fossil fuels, create a more comfortable indoor environment while saving you money on energy spend? Do you want to learn how both systems can help you achieve low energy building, including the changes with Part L 2019 and Nearly Zero Energy Building? If so, our continuing professional development course in partnership between KORE Insulation and Daikin is for you!

Exceeding Nearly Zero Energy Building

KORE Insulation & Daikin are partnering for a limited number of CPD seminars that will focus on meeting and exceeding Part L 2019 (nZEB) in both the new build and retrofit markets. This lunch time seminar will be split into two sessions focusing on the different aspects required to achieve nZEB compliance, including air-to-water heat pumps and expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation solutions.

This continuing professional development event will take place on the 11th of September at the Sligo Park Hotel, Sligo. The seminar will start at approximately 1pm and last for 90 minutes. Those in attendance will earn CPD credit points.

The main objectives of the seminar include low energy building with Expanded Polystyrene and Daikin Heat Pumps, helping you achieve nZEB compliance easily for your next new build or retrofit project.

Who Should Attend?

Architects, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors & BER Assessors and other key decision makers

  • Those involved in the planning and design of domestic and commercial builds, both new build and retrofit

  • Key decision makers looking to specify insulation solutions and heat pump systems for new build and retrofit projects

  • Those interested in working with a high quality, cost effective insulation material and innovative heat pump system to achieve low energy standards, like nZEB, Passive House Certification, EnerPHit etc.

Building & Insulation Contractors

  • Those involved in the installation of heating systems in new build and retrofit applications

  • Those involved in the installation of insulation, including foundation systems, floor insulation, wall insulation, attic and roof insulation

  • Site managers/foreman and operatives who would like to learn more about EPS, installation and quality assurance processes

  • Site managers/foreman, operative and plumbers who would like to learn more about Daikin heat pump systems and the technology behind it

Construction & Building Industry Professionals

  • Anyone in the construction and building industries with an interest in low energy building, the fabric first approach and innovative heat pump systems

  • Self builders who are in the process of planning and designing a new build, extension or retrofit

  • Homeowners or industry professionals looking to upgrade their heating system to the most innovative systems available in the marketplace

Session 1: 1:00pm -1:45pm- KORE Insulation

Presented by Andrew Butler, Technical Business Development Manager, KORE Insulation

This 45 minute session will focus on an introduction to the benefits of Expanded Polystyrene insulation and meeting the Part L 2019 (nZEB) building regulations utilising a variety of EPS solutions. Solutions include:

  • KORE Insulated Foundation System

  • KORE Floor Insulation

  • KORE Fill Cavity Wall Insulation

  • KORE Fill External Wall Insulation

  • KORE Loft Insulated Attic Flooring System

  • KORE Lock Warm & Cold Pitched Roof Insulation

The session will expand on building to Nearly Zero Energy Building Standards utilising KORE EPS, real world case studies and examples of KORE EPS solutions in action and an overview of the technical services and confidence choosing KORE EPS can bring to you and your business. Technical services covered will include U-value calculations, condensation risk analysis, thermal bridging analysis, temperature factor analysis, on-site visits and an overview of our online resource centre. The session will reinforce the importance of insulating to a fabric first approach while integrating renewable heating systems to meet nZEB and other low energy building compliance, including Passive House, EnerPHIt, etc.

KORE's Retrofit Programme Manager John B. Smith will be available on the day to answer questions related to deep retrofit utilsing KORE EPS.

Session 2: 1:45pm to 2:30pm- Daikin Heat Pumps

Presented by Ian Killoch/Calin Tasnadi, Heating Sales Engineers for Daikin Ireland

Including an introduction to heat pumps, the advantages, meeting compliance and things to look for. There are many variables (back stop values) that have to be met and can have a determining factor in achieving the building regulations when producing an energy rating document/BER assessment. SEAI has developed the HP calculation tool to be used by BER assessors in calculating the heat pump heating and hot water efficiency. There are many challenges in producing these figures and our aim is to help in completing these.
