Excel Introduction

This course is for people who have no knowledge of Excel/have only used Excel for data entry/completed basic ECDL in the past. Excel is one of the most sought after skills in the workplace today, with over 750 million people using this spreadsheet application worldwide. Learning how to use Excel is an investment in both your personal and professional life.Our Excel courses will give you the skills and confidence in creating and working with spreadsheets like never before. You will receive a FREE copy of Your Excel Survival Kit: A guide to surviving and thriving in an Excel world" on the day.


What version of Excel is used?

  • Excel 2013

What is covered?

    • Overview of Excel: Rows, columns, sheets, getting to know the Ribbon

    • Data Entry: numbers, text, phone numbers. Dos and Don’ts

    • Basic formulas: Add/Subtract/Multiply/Divide

    • Entering, copying, good practice

    • Fixing a cell (make a cell constant/absolute)

    • Basic Functions: Sum/Max/Min/Average/Count/CountA

    • Creating a basic chart

    • Printing in Excel

    • Creating lists in Excel: sorting, filtering

    • Worksheets in Excel: creating, deleting, moving, copying, colouring, hiding, moving/copying to another workbook

    • Space left for questions/queries/troubleshooting learner questions.

This is a suggested outline. If the group wishes to cover topics that are not listed on this, it will be considered and every attempt made to add to the course content.

How many will be in the class?

  • Class numbers will be small (12 max) to ensure maximum individual attention.

What sort of support materials and follow up is there?

  • Every participant will receive a FREE copy of "Your Excel Survival Kit: A guide to surviving and thriving in an Excel world" written by the instructor, Anne Walsh
  • Some handouts will be supplied on the day but most of the follow up materials (which includes manuals, handouts, suggested Excel learning strategy and links to tutorials) will be provided in an email follow up - which is FREE and can be unsubcribed from at any time.
  • You can also contact our expert instructor after the course as well with any questions or queries.

What do I need to bring with me on the day?

  • You can bring a note pad and pen to take notes, however all course material, and laptops will be provided.

    What about parking?

    • There is ample parking in Terryland Retail Park, which is free.

    Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event

    • Not absolutely essential but good to have proof of registration with you

What is the refund policy?

  • You can get a full refund up to 7 days before the event. However, if you experience unforeseen circumstances and you have paid already, it may be possible to get you on the next course free of charge.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

  • It is, but please contact the organiser to let her know about it beforehand to avoid overbooking.
