Description

Join us to explore the theme of Exhibiting Childhood through two illustrated talks on the National Museum of Ireland's collection of artefacts relating to Irish children and childhood. This session, which will be chaired by Dr Alison Fitzgerald (Maynooth University), will feature the following speakers:

Audrey Whitty (PhD), Keeper of the Arts and Industrial Division (Decorative Arts and History), National Museum of Ireland, will provide a general introduction to the National Museum of Ireland's collections as they relate to children and childhood.

Clodagh Doyle, Assistant Keeper, Irish Folklife Division, National Museum of Ireland, will speak about her experiences curating an exhibition on Irish childhood in the 1950s.

These talks will be accompanied by an exhibition entitled Down Memory Lane - Irish Childhood in the Twentieth Century.

This session is part of the National Museum of Childhood Event Day to raise awareness about the proposed National Museum of Childhood.

This event is funded by the National Heritage Council as part of the National Museum of Childhood Event Day.
