Exhibition Tour: 'staring forms' for Bealtaine Festival @ Temple Bar
Event Information
Description
For Bealtaine Festival @ Temple Bar on Saturday 18 May, Temple Bar Gallery + Studios is delighted to host a tour of our current exhibtion staring forms, by artists Miranda Blennerhassett, Aleana Egan, Andreas Kindler von Knobloch and Tanad Williams, led by TBG+S Learning and Public Engagement Curator, Róisín Bohan.
staring forms is a group exhibition that brings together four artistic practices that engage with space, interiors and sites using distinct voices and methodologies. Each artist was invited to share a text that resonates with their practice, which will inform a series of discussions prior to the exhibition that may inform the decisions made in the studio when making new work to show. These texts include critical, philosophical and political essays, fiction and poetry.
Miranda Blennerhassett intervenes with existing architectural structures and features using wallpaintings. She often implements the repetition, ornamentation and patterning of weaving and textile design to soften the rigidity and density of buildings and their construction.
Aleana Egan’s work draws on the atmosphere and tonality of the literature, cinema, design, and cultural iconography that she immerses herself within. Egan’s resulting sculptures and assemblages echo particular moods and hint at untold narratives, allowing the viewer to intuitively perceive the artist’s own musings.
Andreas Kindler von Knobloch and Tanad Williams share an enduring and industrious collaborative practice. Their sculptural installations and interventions play with scale and accessibility, hinting at the potential within existing structures and exploring new ways of navigating the world through the built environment.
Aleana Egan holds a Membership Studio at TBG+S (2018–2021), Miranda Blennerhassett held a Membership Studio (2015–2018) and Andreas Kindler von Knobloch and Tanad Williams held a Project Studio in 2017.
This exhibition will feature as part of Dublin International Literature Festival 2019.
