Exploring the Aftermath of the UK Referendum on European Union Membership: A Public Discussion

On 30 June a public discussion will be held in the Royal Irish Academy to consider the outcome of the UK referendum on EU membership. This event takes place one week after the UK public goes to the polls in a referendum which, irrespective of the outcome, will be a landmark moment in UK and European history.

The event will take the form of a roundtable discussion and will comprise a panel of Irish and UK experts. Speakers include: Prof Michael Keating (University of Aberdeen), Prof David Phinnemore (Queen's University Belfast), Prof Laura Cram (University of Edinburgh), and Dr Paul Gillespie (University College Dublin/Irish Times). They will consider the significance of the result and will explore what the vote means for Ireland, for the UK’s devolved parliaments, for the British party system, and for the future of the EU.
