Event description
This year's FameLab Dublin regional heat is virtual for the first time!

About this event

FameLab, the world’s leading science communication competition, is back! Held in more than 30 countries, the British Council and Cheltenham Festivals have teamed up to bring it to Ireland again in 2021 – and this year you can watch the whole competition from the comfort of your own home!

Armed only with their wits and a few props, the newest voices in science, technology, engineering and maths from the Dublin region will give 3 minute talks on always fascinating, sometimes bizarre science concepts. Expect to hear anything from why men have nipples to symmetry and the perfect selfie and is wearing red an advantage in sport? Talks will then be judged according to FameLab’s golden rules – the 3 Cs: Content, Clarity and Charisma.

FameLab Dublin regional heats will be an unpredictable, enlightening and exciting way to encourage your curiosity and give you a snapshot into the world of science. As a viewer, you will also have the power to judge contestants along with an esteemed panel from academia, media and industry.

So join us to to whet those science taste buds!

When:

  • Heat 1: Thursday 17 June, 6.30-8.00pm
  • Heat 2: Thursday 24 June, 6:30-8:00pm
