Description

Family Open Day: Come along for a fun day filled with activities. Throughout the day you can pick up our Children’s trail at our Exhibition desk or stop off in our Rotunda space to write a postcard to a loved one.

9.00 - 10.00: Autism Friendly Early Opening: The exhibition will open early for families with children on the autism spectrum or who have sensory processing differences. You will be able to discover the archive of Seamus Heaney in a calm atmosphere and at you own pace.

11.00: Children's Storytelling: Why not join award winning children’s performer Sarah Tully for a fun storytelling session inspired by the work of Seamus Heaney? There’ll be a bit of a sing-along to start off and you’ll even have the chance to start your own story or poem! Ages 8-12

12.30: Family Tour: Would you like to know more about Seamus Heaney’s life and work? Why not pop in for this family-friendly tour of the exhibition where we will explore his archive to discover facts about his life and what it’s like to be a writer.

14.00: Creativity Workshop for Teens & Guardians: This workshop invites you to respond to Seamus Heaney’s work creatively – through words, drawing or any form of artistic expression! We will take a close look at one of Heaney’s poems and then you can create your own piece of art or writing inspired by it.

15.00: Finish
