The Tuition Fee provides, at the appropriate times, free access to all lectures, tutorials, workshops, demonstrations, the equipment and trade show, the 2022 Irish National Honey Show Exhibition, the awards and prize giving ceremonies, subject to booking requirements, dictated by space constraints and health and safety considerations.
Accommodation and food is separate and are available to suit a wide range of tastes and different points, both on and off the University Campus in Maynooth.
Beginner Beekeepers:
An Introduction to beekeeping stage one course, as outlined by the FIBKA Education Framework document will take place. A certificate of attendance will be awarded. Topics covered will include Natural history of the Honeybee; Honeybee Management; Equipment; Hive Products; Pests & Diseases; Bees & the environment
Competent Beekeepers: The Theme is Bee Wellness, covering knowledge of current and potential bee pests and diseases. 7 Lectures to include speakers Professor Julia Jones, UCD, Roger Patterson UK, Michael Maunsell and Tom Prendergast
Advanced Beekeepers: Programme to be finalised, with speakers on Queen Rearing, The Importance of Black bees
Workshops: To include Encaustic Art, Wax and its uses; Honey for Sale & Show; Hive parts & framemaking for beginners; Mead making
Microscopy:
‘State of the Art’ Microscopy Lab in Maynooth University has been made available
