Event description
It's about getting it done! We may all want to ferment, but do we ever spare the time to do it?

About this event

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

I loved fermenting carrot sticks with all you lovely people back in May, so now I'm back with another fermenting class & anyone wishing to get some simple ferments on the go at home can stop faffing around and actually do it and in good company too!

I have now totally run out of Sauerkraut so that is the next ferment we will be preparing together. It takes place this coming Thursday on Zoom.

Come and make your own supply in your own kitchen along with me, while we talk about the benefits of sauerkraut, how to use it and when not to use it (!) and we will be discussing supporting gut health in general, because let's face it, taking care of our gut health is the no1 key to health and longevity... I am convinced of this !

Collect the utensils and ingredients and join me while we prepare a batch together!

Regarding Cabbage:

- it is part of the cruciferous family of vegetables, which has many benefits for the liver's detoxing capacity & our gut's elimination process

- it's high in fiber/ prebiotics which feed our good gut bacteria that help keep our immune system strong

- the purple kind we will be fermenting, actually has 3 times more antioxidants per pound of blueberries, how's that for impressive from our humble cabbage?!

So what happens to cabbage when it becomes Sauerkraut?

- it becomes a great source of prebiotics AND probiotics

- it becomes the highest natural source of vitamin C

- reduces gas production, so helps with bloating & flatulence

- improves bowel movement & immunity

- helps reduce inflammation markers..... I tell you it's practically a home-made medicinal food and all for the cost of one cabbage (...errr assuming you have the rest of the utensils I tell you to bring on the night!)!

Regarding Fermenting: It takes the food's innate values up a notch & preserves its freshness for much longer! Both great reasons to learn how to do the process at home!

And why do we care about eating foods naturally high in probiotics you may ask? -Because our overall health and immunity is largely determined by our gut health, right?... And our gut health is largely determined by the variety and type of gut bacteria that live in it, right?.. Right! Well, studies show that consuming foods naturally high in probiotics, on a frequent basis, is the best way to increase the population of the good guys in your gut, so fermented foods can make a hell of a difference to you, by helping improve issues ranging from energy slumps to cravings, to better immune function to name but a few and these benefits are amplified further when it is your own home-made product.

I am keeping myself accountable by preparing my own batch in front of you guys this coming Thursday, you guys now need to take charge of your health and join me in the process! Think how good it will feel Friday morning to know that you have a jar or 2 of sauerkraut fermenting in your cupboard!

See you Thursday 29th July at 7pm Irish time!

To your health
